Obituary of Raylene Faye DeLeon
Raylene Faye DeLeon, 77, of Morgantown, WV, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, at WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born at the St. Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Morgantown, WV, on April 30, 1947, a daughter of the late Harry (Jackie) Johnson and the late Lorraine (Kenneth) Christopher.
Raylene was raised in Morgantown, Masontown, and Garrettsville, OH. She graduated from James A. Garfield High School, Garrettsville, OH, in 1965. She was an operator for Bell Telephone company in Arlington, VA, where she met Roberto DeLeon (US Army). In 1969 they married and moved to San Antonio, TX, where she worked for USAA for 5 years. Raylene and Roberto returned to Morgantown in 1975. She was an Administrative Associate for the WVU Department of Mathematics for 33 years. Raylene served on the Rock Forge Presbyterian Church Session and as an Elder for the church. She founded the Child Care Center, Inc. to serve the Rock Forge community, and served on the board of the Rock Forge Neighborhood House and the Mellon's Chapel Cemetery Association. Raylene was President of the VFW Post 1589 Auxiliary.
Raylene is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Roberto S. DeLeon; Roberto's children, Christian (Paige), Lian all of Morgantown, and Daniel (Kate) of Beaver, PA; grandchildren, Sophia, Robert, Vivian, Christopher, and Justina; sister, Dorene Sutton (Vic) of Garrettsville, OH; brothers, Mickey (Helene) Christopher and Mark Christopher all of Garrettsville, OH, Butch Christopher of Kingwood, and John (Diane) Johnson, of Morgantown.
To honor her wishes, Raylene will be cremated. Compassionate and professional cremation services will be provided by the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV.
A Celebration of Raylene's life will be held at the Field Funeral Home on Sunday March 2, 2025. Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until the 4:00 pm time of service with Pastor Sam Moon officiating.
The family requests that you please refrain from heavy perfumes, colognes, hair products, flowers, etc. due to Roberto's severe health concerns.
