Obituary of John Delane Street

John Delane Street, 72, of Arthurdale, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Masontown, on January 29, 1945, a son of the late Jacob Maxwell and the late Margery Lucille (Calvert) Street. He served in the US Army and worked many years as a coal miner. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. John is survived by his daughter, Amanda Street and husband Ed Horne of Arthurdale; two sons, Melvin Street of Arthurdale and Patrick Street and wife Stella of Rivesville; six grandchildren, James, Edward, Dreama, Emma, Madison, and Peyton; one sister, Suzy Stuchell and husband Roger of Indian Rocks; four brothers, Dennis Street of Hopewell, VA, Roger Street and wife Wanda of Newburg, Gary Street and wife Mary of Newburg and Bill Street of Newburg; four sister-in laws, Joyce Hileman and husband Marvin of Arthurdale, Elizabeth Austin and husband Bill of Morgantown, Alice Wilmouth and husband Wayne of Morgantown, Mary Myers and husband Randy of Grafton; several nieces and nephews and his dog, Deliah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Street; two sisters, Olive Hussing and Dorothy Karabiac; three brothers, Bob Street, Jack Street and Jimmie Street. In a generous gesture John donated his body to the University of Tennessee Department of Anthropology in Knoxville, TN. There will be no public services. A private memorial service and dinner will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to WV Caring, Pine Ridge Nursing Home and staff, and Ruby Memorial Hospital for the excellent care he received.
