Obituary of Ida Lou Hovatter

Ida Lou (Quinn) Hovatter, 94, of Masontown, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at Pine Ridge Nursing Home in Kingwood.

She was born in Buckatunna, MS, on January 24, 1923, a daughter of the late James Quinn and Millie (Conley) Quinn.

Ida is survived by two daughters, Doris Lacey and husband Jim of Mobile, AL and Bernice Zimmerman of Gastonia, NC; three sons, Lloyd Hovatter and wife Deanna of Masontown, Mike Hovatter Sr. and wife Donna of Masontown and Steve Hovatter and wife Joanne of Philippi, WV; 33 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and a half sister, Dorothy Quinn Hovatter of Leakesville, MS.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Richard Hovatter Sr.; three sons, Clarence Richard Hovatter Jr., James Hovatter and Jack Hovatter; one great grandson, Justin Hovatter; five brothers, Jay, Woodrow, Sam, James and Jamie; six sisters, Sarah, Ada, Nell, Lucille, Eleanor, and Millie and a son in law, Frank Zimmerman.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Ida was a lifelong member of the Masontown Church of the Nazarene where she was a Sunday School teacher and was on the Board of directors. She loved her family dearly.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Thursday June 1, 2017 from 4 to 9 p.m and on Friday June 2, 2017 at the Masontown Nazarene Church from 1 p.m until the 2 p.m. service time with Rev. Tim Heaney officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kelly Manko and her family and the rest of the staff at Pine Ridge Nursing Home for their love and care shown to Ida.
