Obituary of Mabel Elizabeth Zinn

Mabel Elizabeth Darnell Zinn, 94, of Fellowsville, passed on peacefully at Preston Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side on Sunday November 13, 2016. She was born September 28, 1922 at Darnell Hollow, Morgantown, the daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Hazel Myers Darnell. Her sunny disposition was a daily inspiration to anyone who knew her. She always had a positive attitude and believed in hard work and working together which she instilled in her children. She enjoyed reading, seek-a-word, playing the guitar and organ, working in the vegetable garden, tending to the animals, and walking the farm. Mabel believed you should treat everyone the way you want to be treated. She graduated from the one-room school at Chestnut Ridge Park. It only went to the eighth grade, but she attended three extra years because she wanted to keep learning. After working a couple of years, she married "Tobe" and moved to Fellowsville to begin her farm adventure. Mabel is survived by two sons, Ronald Zinn and wife Eloda of Kingwood and David Zinn and wife Rhonda of Fellowsville; two daughters, Jeannie Strahin and husband Danny of Masontown and Linda Zinn of Morgantown; six grandchildren, Tammy Strahin Calvert and husband Chris of Morgantown, Daniel Strahin and wife Amy of Reedsville, Jennifer Zinn Pyles of Kingwood, Melanie Zinn of Kingwood, Jonathan Zinn of Fellowsville and Olivia Zinn of Philippi; six great-grandchildren, Andrew and Emma Calvert, Sophia and Lillian Strahin, Garron Pyles and Trevor Zinn; one brother, Donald Darnell and wife Doris of Bruceton and one sister-in-law, Laura Darnell of Cheat Lake. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Archie "Tobe" Zinn on March 31, 1996; two brothers, Eston and Robert Darnell and three sisters, Edna Smith, Alvira Smith and Jessie Darnell. Friends may call at Field Funeral Home in Masontown, on Wednesday November 16, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. and on Thursday November 17, 2016 at Mt.
